# How do I create a project?

> Create a project for each home or space and keep its rooms, schedule, budget and client chat together. What you can set up front and what to do next.

A project holds one home or space: its rooms, product schedule, budget, files, planner and client chat. You can create as many projects as you need.

## Create a project

1. Click **Projects** in the sidebar.
2. Click **Create new project** in the top right.
3. Type the **Project name**. It's the only field you have to fill in.
4. Check the **Project currency**. Densy picks it from your language and region. If you change it later, prices aren't converted.
5. Fill in anything else you want (see below) and click **Add new project**.

## What you can set

Everything except the name can be left empty and filled in later.

- **Deadline** and a cover image show on the project and its card.
- **Project budget** is your target. The project overview shows how much of it the products and services use.
- **Markup mode** tracks the trade price, your markup, the client price and your profit on each product. Clients never see your trade price or markup. See [How do budgets and pricing work?](https://densy.io/en/help-center/how-do-budgets-and-pricing-work)
- **Client** links a contact from **Contacts**. This doesn't invite anyone: see [How do I invite a client to a project?](https://densy.io/en/help-center/how-to-invite-client-to-project)

## After you create it

A new project has no rooms yet. Click **Create first room**, type the room's name and click **Add new room**. To bring in a whole room from Excel, click **Import from spreadsheet** instead.

## Change the details later

Click **Project settings** in the project's top right, change what you need and click **Save project**. To start a new project from a copy, hover over a card in **Projects**, click ⋯ (Options) and choose **Duplicate**.
